Students involved in the juvenile justice system often return to public school classrooms after spending time in a secure school located in a detention centers or incarceration facilities across the US. This session will highlight education inside the juvenile justice system, showcase how educators are creating engaging classrooms, offer examples of student created work, and outline how you can disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline by advocating for justice-involved students.

"Compassionate Listening for Our Time" with Kathleen Coyne, EdD

The course will introduce compassionate listening as a way to be ‘alive to’ to belonging to all of creation: yourself, your family, your communities and the planet as a whole.

You will be invited to think of community in its most expansive form and offered opportunities to listen deeply to what our ancestors, people in other parts of the globe, the natural world, and future generations are asking of us.

The Interfaith Center at Miami University is hosting a panel conversation with Felipe Zurita, from Charter for Compassion; Will Rucker with Compassionate Las Vegas, and Ann Helmke with Compassionate San Antonio and Compassionate USA (And also member of the Charter for Compassion Board of Trustees) discuss the work of Compassionate Communities, their value, and current projects that will give you a deeper understanding of the power of compassion and the growth communities experience through this program.

This playbook is designed to make it easier for faith and community leaders to join work that is already happening across America to help the 2024 elections run smoothly, so that all eligible voters can access a ballot and every valid vote is counted.

Their purpose in compiling and curating this information, is to enable organizations to focus on taking actions that best align with their interests, their skills, and the needs of their communities.

Many school children are returning to schools and education centres across the world this week in the Global South and North! We have two relevant and practical children's and educators/parents resources that have been designed by the GoldenRuleism Team, to be fun, interactive and functional ways to ease children back into their education environments and assist in navigating some of the completely rational nerves and excitment that comes with starting or restarting school again!

The Club of Rome, the Fifth Element and Soka Gakkai (SG) are co-organising an insightful one-day conference titled ‘It’s Time for a Human Revolution!’. This event will take place on 9 October 2024 at the SGI-UK Grand Culture Centre, Taplow Court, and is supported by SGI-UK and the Centre for Applied Buddhism. 

This conference aims to bring together a diverse group of participants, including academics, professionals, youth activists, students, educators, and representatives from NGOs and international organisations. The discussions will focus on the critical theme of inner transformation and mutual learning, addressing the complex and interconnected global challenges humanity faces—what we call “the global problematique.”

The event seeks to foster deeper connections with the self, others, nature, and the environment.
